Brookshire Brothers Charitable Foundation 2017 Recipients

Organizations that lay the foundation for stronger communities will have more resources to help them help others thanks to Brookshire Brothers. On Tuesday, the Brookshire Brothers Charitable Foundation awarded more than $100,000 in grants to 16 non-profits and 5 education foundations across its market. The grants give organizations the resources they need to continue living out their mission of serving those in need. Trustees and company executives presented funds to the recipients on Tuesday, January 24th at the George H. Henderson Jr Exposition Center in Lufkin. 

Brookshire Brothers Express Grand Opening - Hudson, Texas

Brookshire Brothers rang in the New Year with a bang as it opened its latest retail location in Hudson, TX! The store opened on Wednesday, January 11th at 6:00 AM and featured the Angelina County Chamber of Commerce, City of Hudson and Hudson ISD at the 11:00 AM ribbon cutting. Grand Opening fes-tivities included a prize wheel, raffles, giveaways, and appearances by Hudson JV cheerleaders, HighLights, band, and choir. As your community grocer since 1921, Brookshire Brothers has a legacy of giving that spans nearly a century.

Brookshire Brothers CEO Steps Down in May

Brookshire Brothers announced on Monday that Jerry Johnson will step down as President and CEO at the end of April 2017. He will continue as a member of the Lufkin-based grocer’s Board of Directors.

Wells Welcomes Brookshire Brothers Express

Brookshire Brothers opened a new store Wednesday with a holiday twist.  Wells Elementary School’s choir sang Christmas favorites as shoppers arrived for the ribbon cutting that also featured student leaders, cheerleaders, and athletes.  Customers flocked to the event to spin the prize wheel, sign up for giveaways and check out the produce, fresh meats, and full service deli in the store that sits on the Cherokee and Angelina County line.  

Celebrating Our Legacy Farmers and Ranchers

Brookshire Brothers proudly salutes this year’s Texas Family Land Heritage honorees. Each year the Texas Department of Agriculture honors farmers and ranchers who have worked their family land continuously for more than 100 years.  Brookshire Brothers is a Gold sponsor of the program that celebrates agriculture and the farm to table culture and legacy of Texas.  The event culminates with a ceremony in the Senate Chambers of the Texas State Capitol.

Brookshire Brothers Express Store Opens to Serve Grapeland

Grapeland now boasts a Brookshire Brothers Express tailor made for its community. The latest retail location for the Lufkin-based grocer welcomed its first customers at 6AM Wednesday, October 26th.  In opening the store, company COO John Alston said, “The good people of Grapeland let us know from the beginning that they needed not only a grocery store but a full-service pharmacy.

Brookshire Brothers Announces Four New Stores

Lufkin-based Brookshire Brothers is turning up its growth pattern in the coming year.  The 100% employee-owned regional grocer announces plans to open stores in four rural markets starting this fall in Grapeland, Texas.  The announcement coincides with the company’s 95th birthday and its legacy of serving communities throughout Texas and western Louisiana. In making the announcement, COO John Alston says, “Each store will be tailored to meet the specific needs of the communities in which they are located.

Egg production has been a hot button in the food industry recently.  Some companies throughout the egg supply chain have made public announcements about working toward ‘cage-free’ egg production.  Brookshire Brothers joins with other retailers in promoting an industry-wide evolution toward more cage-free egg production.
