Brookshire Brothers and the Lufkin Convention and Visitors Bureau are teaming up for round three with another evening of elegance and education at Pour & Explore: Destination California.
February often brings boxes of mystery chocolates and other treats that break the monotony of winter. Sweet treats are fun, and no one avoids them completely (despite those still-fresh New Year’s resolutions). So how can sweets fit into a healthy diet and not wreck it?
When I shop Brookshire Brothers' produce, one of the things I always pick up is bananas - the ultimate healthy on-the-go snack with just enough carbohydrate to give you a boost. But I always seem to end up with an extra overripe banana here and there. Am I the only one who has a ridiculous number of overripe bananas squirreled away in my freezer? Other than using those bananas in smoothies, a fantastic way to use an abundance of overripe bananas is in banana bread.
Who doesn't love February? After all, this oddly spelled month is synonymous with romance, flowers, butterflies in the stomach - and a groundhog for some reason. I would venture to guess that more couples get engaged or married in February than any other time of year. And although I can't back that up with real statistics, we all know that February and our hearts are forever linked.
Organizations that lay the foundation for stronger communities will have more resources to help them help others thanks to Brookshire Brothers. On Tuesday, the Brookshire Brothers Charitable Foundation awarded more than $100,000 in grants to 16 non-profits and 5 education foundations across its market. The grants give organizations the resources they need to continue living out their mission of serving those in need. Trustees and company executives presented funds to the recipients on Tuesday, January 24th at the George H. Henderson Jr Exposition Center in Lufkin.
Your team is set, but is your menu game day ready? Lucky for you, we’ve got the perfect snacks for your loud and loaded potato skins-loving uncle and delightful sweets for that reminiscing running back.
I’ve decided that Texas has taken a rain check on winter weather this year…and while the spring weather and sunshine in January is appreciated, it’s depriving us of one of my favorite times of the year – soup weather! So if you’re like me and can eat soup any time of the year, here are two of my all-time favorite soup recipes! Enjoy!
