Brookshire Brothers Celebrates the Retirement of Longtime Store Director, Servant Leader

GANADO, TEXAS (September 25, 2025)…Brookshire Brothers is proud to honor the career and community impact of longtime employee owner Donald Janik, who recently retired after more than 25 years in the grocery industry. Known for his dedication, hard work, and heart for service, Janik leaves behind a legacy of commitment not only to his company but also to the people of Ganado.

Throughout his career, Donald made it a priority to support customers, coworkers, first responders, and his neighbors in meaningful ways. His leadership and kindness earned him the respect of all who knew him, making him a true example of the Brookshire Brothers mission of “being good people who sell good food and do good deeds in the communities where we live and work.”

In recognition of his service, Ganado Mayor Clinton Tegeler officially proclaimed September 10, 2025, as “Donald Janik Appreciation Day.” The proclamation celebrates Janik’s unwavering dedication and countless contributions to the city he served faithfully for decades.

“Whereas, in his capacity as Store Manager, Donald always went ‘above and beyond’ to assist the members of the community in a myriad of ways including severe weather preparation, participation in community events, and fundraising efforts for civic organizations and non-profits, support for our veterans, and support of our school, among many other civic-minded causes,” the proclamation read. “Donald Janik exemplifies what it means to be a loyal, devoted and civic-minded individual, putting the needs of others and the needs of the community above all else, and it has been a true honor, pleasure, and gift to have him as a longtime part of the Ganado community.”

“Donald is the kind of person you can always count on,” said Jose Lopez, District Director for Brookshire Brothers. “His steady presence and dedication made a lasting difference for the customers and community he served every single day.”

We are grateful for the many years he devoted to Brookshire Brothers, and we join the City of Ganado in celebrating his well-deserved retirement.”
